The Presidential Security Command (PSC) is now on red alert following the threats on President Marcos' and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos' security.
This was disclosed by the PSC on Monday, Nov. 25, as they implement stricter security measures within Malacañan, where vehicles entering the Palace are being checked one by one.
According to Major Nestor Endozo, PSC civil military operations officer, an order from the PSC commander was issued on Saturday, Nov. 23 to double the President's security in his upcoming public activities.
While Endozo did not disclose if there will be adjustments to the security protocol of Marcos, he said that the coordination and deployment of security personnel will be heightened.
"[H]indi namin ma-disclose. Makikita n'yo na lang po siya during sa mga incoming engagement ni President kasi yung instruction sa amin dito, ido-double yung security ni President lalo sa mga upcoming activities niya. Mas pinaigting natin yung security (We cannot disclose. You will see it during the incoming engagements of the President because the instruction to us here was to double the security of the President, especially in his upcoming activities. We will tighten the security)," Endozo said.
While Marcos' security will be doubled, there is still no directive to limit the President's activities.
There is still no instruction from the PSC commander if they will install a bulletproof glass on the President's podium during his public engagements. There is also no order yet to let Marcos wear a bulletproof vest in his activities.
The tightening of security in Malacañan and the doubling of the President's security came after Vice President Sara Duterte threatened to have Marcos, the First Lady, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez assassinated if she, herself, gets killed.
Duterte has, however, backpedaled from her statement, saying she will not gain anything if the President dies. She said her statement was more of a concern on the threat to her security.
