Aspiring congresswoman Rose Nono Lin has challenged House quad-committee (quad-comm) witness, dismissed Philippine National Police (PNP) Colonel Eduardo Acierto to prove that he is "clean" amid the allegations he made against her spouse.
"Acierto should man up. Face the music if you are really clean," Nono Lin said in a statement Monday, Nov. 25.
Nono Lin noted that Acierto, a former member of the PNP Anti-Narcotics Unit, was implicated in the alleged concealment of P11 billion worth of smuggled drugs inside magnetic lifters found at the Manila International Container Port (MICP), as well as a warehouse in Cavite in 2018.
He also has a P10-million bounty on his head, said the aspirant Quezon City's 5th district seat.
The ex-police officer was also among those charged in the illegal sale of more than 1,000 high-powered firearms worth P52 million to communist insurgents during the Aquino administration.
Nono Lin said Acierto is also tagged in the case of South Korean businessman Jee Ick-joo, who was found dead on Oct. 18, 2016 inside the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame.
Nono Lin raised these issues after Acierto alleged that her businessman husband Lin Wei Xiong, a Hong Kong national, and drug personality Allan Lim were one and the same person.
Acierto submitted his report in 2019 to then-Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde and then-Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino.
In said report, Acierteo claimed that he discovered through an informant the connection of former Duterte adviser Michael Yang and Allan Lim, also known as Lin Wei Xiong, into the drug trade.
Former PDEA chief Wilking Villanueva earlier told members of the quad-comm that Acierto's report was "raw" or unverified, and added that there was no proof that the subjects were linked to the illegal drug trade.
But Acierto claimed that his report then was never acted upon because then-president Rodrigo Duterte was the protector of Yang and Lim.
Nono Lin said that "if Acierto is really telling the truth, why doesn’t he come out and face the cases against him."
She also pointed out that unlike Acierto, her husband is not a subject of any warrant of arrest nor the subject of a pending case in court.
