Suspected NPA militiaman falls in Himamaylan City raid


BACOLOD CITY – A 29-year-old laborer tagged as a New People’s Army militia member was arrested in a raid in Sitio Maglantay, Barangay Caradio-an, Himamaylan City on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan police chief, said the suspect was apprehended during the implementation of a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in the house of the suspect following complaints against him.

Grande did not disclose other details pending the validation of his affiliation with the NPA.

The search warrant dated Nov. 20, 2024 was issued by the Himamaylan City Regional Trial Court Branch 55. 

Police recovered an improvised pistol type 12-gauge shotgun and two live ammunition of a 12-gauge shotgun from the suspect.

Grande said that charges for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition were filed against the suspect on Sunday, Nov. 24.
