CAVITE—The local government unit (LGU) of Dasmariñas declared a state of calamity due to a dengue fever outbreak, with cases surging almost fourfold compared to the same period last year.
The Office of Civil Defense Calabarzon (OCD Calabarzon) said it is already coordinating with the city government of Dasmariñas to tackle the outbreak.
“As of 6 November 2024, there have been 928 reported cases of dengue in our City which is 397% higher than the 233 cases during the same period last year and it is of dire importance that necessary measures be taken to prevent further spread of the virus,” Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga posted on Facebook.
The Dasmariñas LGU is closely monitoring dengue cases and has intensified its awareness campaign to combat the outbreak.
