Two alleged members of the “Spider-man” gang were arrested by members of the La Loma Police for stealing goods from a balikbayan box inside a moving van in Quezon City on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
According to the police, the driver and helper of the closed delivery van were cruising along D. Tuazon near NS Amoranto Street, Barangay Maharlika, Quezon City, when the suspects secretly boarded the vehicle and discreetly opened the back door of the van and stole valuable items from a balikbayan box.
When the delivery personnel arrived at the address of the recipients of the balikbayan box, they noticed the missing items. The suspects reportedly fled onboard a tricycle towards an undisclosed location.
“Pagdating po nila sa lugar na pagka-deliver nila, nalaman nila na wala na 'yung items ng balikbayan box nila. So, agad silang nag-report sa atin sa police station para humingi po ng police assistance (When they arrived at the delivery place, they found out that the items in their balikbayan box were gone. So, they immediately reported us to the police station to ask for police assistance),” La Loma Police Station Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ferdinand Casiano said.
The suspects were arrested in Navotas City around 11:00 p.m. They were identified as Arnel Cabildo, 40, and Cazz Axl Samonte, 43, both residents of Dagat-dagatan, Navotas City.
Recovered from the suspects were a pair of sneakers, ZD Air Quality Sensor with a Lithium-Ion Battery, and a box containing 27 pieces of assorted office supplies, all estimated to be worth P111,709.44.
