Mathay-Macatangay, Samson-Francisco set early pace in 26th Orchard Founders Cup

Lucia Land, Inc. at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmarinas, Cavite.

Mathay and Macatangay, carrying a team handicap of -0.5,  chalked up  38 and 40 points, respectively, equivalent to gross 70 and 68 at the Palmer course that carried them to a 10-point lead over Arbie Jacinto and Raymond Lacdao at the completion of the first half of play.

While Cathay and Macatangay pulled away, Samson and Francisco combined for 91 net points that put them on top of the 800-player field vying for the overall net crown  in the event also sponsored by Aqua Terra Integrated as event partner and BDO - Visa, ProHance, The Turf Company, Toyota-Bacoor as major sponsors and Chefscorp, Gamboa & Sons (Gransportivo), Globe Telecom, Golforce, Inc., TES Advertising Agency Inc, as premium sponsors.

Showing the way in their respective divisions were Jacinto-Lacdao in Group A, Hazel Ann Grecia-John Paul Gutierrez in Group B, Lorenzo Samson and Glenn Francisco in Group C, Willy Tee Ten-Aaron Sorbito in Group D and Opulencia-dela Cruz in the sponsors category.

It was Jacinto-Lacdao leading by 10 over the Mathay-Macatangay this time with handicaps applied, Grecia-Gutierrez held a one-point lead over Gerardo Valentin-Gener Sison with their 78, Samson-Francisco’s 91 was good for a five-point lead over Aldous Keith Monica-Juan Paolo Mendoza while Tee-Ten-Sorbito (84) were far ahead of Joevincchi Lopiung-Eugene Tan (71).

Action continues this weekend with the field resuming their quest for the hole-in-one prizes at stake including seven latest model cars, two golf carts, golf equipment, trip vouchers and cash aside from the attractive prizes for tournament winners and the raffle.
