Marcos tells farmers, fisherfolk to enroll into government's insurance program
President Marcos has urged farmers and fisherfolk in Isabela to enroll under the government's insurance program to protect their livelihood.

In his speech during the distribution of certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) and certificates of condonation with release of mortgage (COCROMs) in Cabagan, Isabela, Marcos encouraged farmers and fisherfolk to enroll under the Department of Agriculture (DA)’s Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.
The program aims to protect farmers’ seedlings and equipment.
He said the Agriculture department has expanded its insurance program to ensure the protection of farmers' and fishermen's livelihood amid calamities.
“Ito pong insurance na ito sa mga pananim o kagamitan sa pangingisda ay napakahalaga, lalung-lalo na sa mga rehiyon na madalas tamaan ng bagyo o kalamidad (This insurance for crops and fishing equipment is very important, especially in region frequently hit by typhoons),” he said.
“Kaya po hinihikayat ko ang ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda na mag-enroll po sa programang ito, yung Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, upang masiguro po ang proteksyon ng inyong mga kabuhayan laban sa mga sakuna (So, I am encouraging our farmers and fisherfolk to enroll to this program, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, to ensure the protection of your livelihood in times of calamities),” he added.
The President also vowed to continue modernizing and developing climate resilient agricultural processes and equipment.
During the event, a total of 456 CLOAs and electronic titles for the Support to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling(SPLIT) Project were distributed, benefitting 346 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the province.
Marcos and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) also handed over 25,773 CoCRoMs to 21,496 ARBs in Isabela. Through these certificates, the government assumes the debt of ARBs amounting to P1,152,916,073.00.
In can be recalled that Marcos signed the New Agrarian Emancipation Act (NAEA) on July 7, 2023 to condone all loans, including interests, penalties and surcharges incurred by ARBs from land awarded under Presidential Decree (PD) 27, R.A. No. 6657 and R.A. No. 9700.
Around 600,000 farmers are said to benefit from the Law covering more than 1.7 million hectares of agrarian reform lands nationwide.
