Nine people split around P1.8 million in cash reward after they provided information that led to the arrest of most wanted criminals, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday, Nov. 21.
PNP-Intelligence Group director Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque said that the nine arrested wanted persons face various charges that include murder, rape, homicide, and ownership of loose firearms.
Obinque led the distribution of cash reward on Nov. 15 at Camp Crame in Quezon City where he also lauded the nine reward recipients for cooperating with the police in accounting wanted persons.
“This initiative demonstrates the PNP’s dedication to collaborating with citizens to ensure the safety and security of the nation,” said Obinque.
“The ceremony not only recognized the bravery of the informants but also underscored the essential role each individual plays in upholding law and order, creating a safer environment for all Filipinos,” he added.
Obinque said some of those who were arrested have long been evading the law.
For his part, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized the importance of community collaboration in law enforcement.
"This reward program reflects our unwavering dedication to ensuring a safer Philippines. By recognizing the bravery and vigilance of these informants, we also highlight the crucial role of citizen participation in combating criminality. Together, we can build a secure and peaceful society, " said Marbil.
