In his speech in Bacolor, Pampanga, Marcos said the distribution of COCROMs and CLOAs would help ease farmers’ plight following the series of typhoons that hit the country over the past month.

In receiving the COCROMs, the President said the ARBs are freed from debt totaling P206.38 million including amortization, interest, and other surcharges.

"Simula ngayon, pinapawalang-bisa na po natin ang inyong utang sa lupang ipinagkaloob sa inyo sa ilalim ng repormang agraryo (Starting today, we are freeing you from the debt that came with the land you received through our agrarian reform program)," he said on Thursday, Nov. 21.

"Isang hakbang ito upang pagtibayin pa ang sektor ng agrikultura at matulungan na maiangat ang antas ng pamumuhay ng ating mga magsasaka (This is one step in strengthening our agriculture sector and help uplifting the lives of our farmers)," he added.

Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia Garcia Pineda expressed her deepest gratitude to President Marcos and Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Conrado Estrella for ensuring the welfare of farmers and prioritizing their needs.

Support the farmers

Meanwhile, Marcos rallied the entire nation to support farmers and the whole agricultural sector.

"Nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon din ang aming handog ngayong araw para sa panibagong yugto sa inyong mga buhay, kung saan hindi lamang kayo at ang inyong pamilya ang aasenso—maging ang buong bansa ay kasama ninyo sa inyong tagumpay (I hope this gift of ours will inspire you as you begin the next chapter of your lives where you, your family, and the nation will become successful)," he said.

The President recognized Pampanga’s contribution to the nation’s overall development through its major industries namely agriculture, specialty food, and food processing.

Pampanga is Central Luzon’s major egg supplier and accounts for 17.7 percent of the country’s overall egg production.

Through the government's Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program, Pampanga has been supplying eggs to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at jail facilities.
