In line with its goal of reaching one million readers, the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale officially kicked off on Thursday, Nov. 21, at Azuela Cove in Lanang here, catering to IP pass holders while the general sale opened to book lovers, authors, and publishers on Nov. 22 and ends on Dec. 1.
Andrew Yap, co-founder of the Big Bad Wolf Books, said their mission – changing the world one book at a time – focuses on empowering communities by providing them access to diverse and meaningful literature. He added that the event seeks to connect people through various books.
“I think 13 is quite crazy in this known country. We have 15 events in various countries, but there are no other countries where we have done 13 events. We will do our best to have 13 events in this country every year,” Yap said.
Jacqueline Ng, co-founder and executive director of the Big Bag Wolf Books-Sendirian Berhad Malaysia, said they believe in building a new age of readers, with parents who want what is best for their children, thus, bringing books to various areas nationwide and globally.
Carolyn Chuaying, managing partner of the Big Bad Wolf Books-Philippines, said this year’s Big Bad Wolf is bringing a one-of-a-kind experience here that’s even bigger and better than the past years they’ve been here, with its Christmas Howliday Market at the book sale up until midnight.
She said that with over two million titles from the United States, United Kingdom, and Malaysia, book lovers of all ages, authors, and publishers will never run out of options. Chuaying added that latest releases will also be available at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale at up to 95 percent off.
“Whether you are on a budget or on a quest to build a personal library, you are sure to bag great finds at affordable prices. Admission is free. Everyone can make the most out of the incredible deals at the book sale,” Chuaying said.
Chuaying thanked 2GO, IKEA Philippines, Metrobank, Ayala Malls, and Seda Hotel for their help in making the event possible. She said they could not have such a huge book sale event without the help of their partners.
Big Bad Wolf also looks forward to more donated books this year. It said the donations would be turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD) that would deliver the books to needy areas.
