Meanwhile, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval also visited the Tugatog Public Cemetery (TPC) to check the situation and ensure the safety of the residents during their visit.

MDRRMO said that as of 6 p.m., 10,112 Malabuenos commemorate the undas at TPC.

"Ngayong araw po ay mahalaga para sa bawat isa sa atin dahil ito ay ang simula ng Undas kung saan marami sa atin ang bibisita sa mga sementeryo para manalangin para sa kanilang mga yumao (Today is an important day for each of us as it marks the beginning of Undas, when many of us will visit cemeteries to pray for our departed loved ones),” she said.

“Kaya ho ating sinisiguro na ang ating mga inihandang programa ay maibibigay natin sa kanila ng maayos at kanilang mabibisita ang kanilang mahal sa buhay ng may kapanatagan. Layunin natin na maging ligtas, maayos, at payapa ang paggunita ng Undas ngayong taon (That’s why we’re ensuring that our planned programs are delivered effectively, allowing everyone to visit their loved ones in peace. Our goal is for this year's Undas to be safe, orderly, and serene),” she added.

Sandoval was accompanied by Councilor Jasper Cruz to greet visitors and remind them that a help desk is available outside TPC for those needing assistance.

The city’s public information office said that a Holy Mass was offered for the souls of deceased Malabueños at TPC.

The city government conducted landscaping, repairs, clean-up operations and repainting of walls and facilities before the partial reopening of the TPC last October 19.

This work followed the launch of a redevelopment project at the cemetery in 2021, prior to Sandoval’s term as the city mayor.

The mayor also affirmed her commitment to completing the project soon, assuring residents that the remains of their loved ones are safe.

MDRRMO said that the Undas commemoration at the cemeteries has been “generally peaceful.”
