The 23-year-old Tirol navigated the 25-meter pool and clocked his personal best of 27.56 seconds in the men’s 50-meter breaststroke, eclipsing the eight-year-old mark of 27.65sec set by James Deiparine at the World Championships in Windsor, Canada pending ratification.

He, however, failed to advance to the eight-player medal round after placing 16^th overall out of 48 swimmers.

The day before, the 20-year-old Ang also posted a new PH mark in the men’s 100m butterfly with a time of 53.65sec, erasing the 10-year-old record of 54.67sec set by Olympian Jessie Lacuna at the 2014 World Championships in Doha, Qatar.

Ang, however, did not advance to the finals after finishing 19^th overall in the heats among 45 swimmers.

He also competed in the men’s 50m butterfly where timed 24.12sec and landed 25^th, and in the men’s 200m fly where he registered 2 minutes and 16.85sec at 24^th.

Meanwhile, Xiandi Chua and Jasmine Mojdeh placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the finals of the women’s 200m fly.

Chua timed 2:14.10 -- just a hairline from her 2:14:11 qualifying mark -- while Mojdeh registered 2:16:58, the same time as her qualifiers.

Australia’s Brittany Castelluzzo captured the gold with 2:03.92, while fellow Aussie Bella Grant (2:03.92) and Finland’s Laura Lahtinen (2:06.83) bagged silver and bronze, respectively.
