P29-M shabu seized from retired general's son


ZAMBOANGA CITY - Police arrested on Monday, Nov. 18, the son of a retired general and seized nearly P30-million worth of suspected shabu during  a buy-bust operation here.

Ashraf Kayzar Ikbala, alias Bhar, 40, was arrested in Sitio Palawan, Zone 2, Barangay Divisoria.

Lawmen confiscated plastic bags of shabu weighing 4.4 kilos with an estimated value of P29.92 million and the buy-bust money.

The confiscated items were brought to the Regional Forensic Unit-9 for examination while the suspect was taken to the detention facility of the Zamboanga City Police Office.

Ikbala was identified as the son of retired police Gen. Sukarno Ikbala who ran for mayor when his son was arrested in 2019.

In 2019, police operatives served a warrant of arrest on Ashraf near his home in Barangay Tumaga after he was caught with P100,000 worth of prohibited drugs.

The anti-illegal drug operation on Monday was conducted by Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-9, Zamboanga Police Station 6, RDEU Zamboanga City, Police Regional Office-9, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-9, and National Intelligence Support Group-Western Mindanao.
