Two motorcycle thieves were apprehended at a checkpoint in Barangay Hulo, Pililla, Rizal on Monday, Nov. 18.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) identified the suspects as "Fer” and “Pat,” both 20 years old and residents of Tanay, Rizal.
They were arrested after a woman reported to the Pililla Municipal Police Station that her motorcycle, which was parked in front of an establishment along Manila East Road in Barangay Bagumbayan, had been stolen.
The victim's report prompted authorities to alert all police stations in Rizal Province to conduct checkpoint operations to apprehend the suspects based on the victim's description of the stolen motorcycle and the culprits.
The suspects were arrested along Pililla-Tanay Road, Sitio Cumbo, Barangay Hulo, after being flagged down for riding a motorcycle without helmets and lack of registration documents.
Authorities added that the motorcycle the two men were riding matched the description provided by the victim.
The victim positively identified the suspects as the ones who stole her motorcycle.
The suspects were brought to the Pililla Custodial Facility and will face charges for violating Republic Act No. 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
