DFA chief off to Italy for G7 ministerial meeting

Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo left Manila for Italy on Tuesday, Nov. 19, to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Ministerial Meeting that will take place next week.

Manalo is expected to engage with his counterparts from Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States to talk about regional security in the Indo-Pacific as he is set to meet them from Nov. 25 to 26.

The European Union is also represented at the G7 meetings.

Manalo's visit there comes upon the invitation of Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, whose country is holding the rotating G7 Presidency this year.

During the trip, Manalo is also scheduled to meet with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, the Holy See's Secretary for Relations with States.

Meetings with senior Italian officials to discuss bilateral cooperation are being arranged as well.

Manalo will meet with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director General Qu Dongyu, attend the launch of the Mirei Exhibit and meet members of the Filipino Community, and deliver a lecture at the Sapienza University of Rome, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
