After serving for almost three decades as cabin crew of Philippine Airlines (PAL), 20 frontliners recently received their wings as flight pursers, a milestone marking years of dedication and service straight from the heart.

The 20 graduates completed their flight pursership course with “flying colors” on October 18, 2024, at the Lucio K. Tan Jr. Center in the presence of top PAL officials led by Capt. Stanley Ng, President and Chief Operating Officer; Atty. Carlu Fernandez, EVP and General Counsel; Capt. Ed Alfred Medina, AVP of PAL Aviation Training Center; Capt. Leo Bernabe, VP, Flight Operations Department; Cielo Villaluna, PAL spokesperson; FP Flerida Imelda Jurado, co-trainer; and Anthony dela Pena, trainer in charge and cabin services manager, among others.

“After years of serving Philippine Airlines, 20 cabin crew frontliners move onward and upward! They are now brand-new pursers of the flag carrier! Congratulations on your new and coveted role as flight leaders! You make your PAL family proud,” Villaluna said.

Batch representative Mylene Bancairen Corpus said their graduation “marks a new leaf in the lives of 20 young men and women, three decades of flying, thriving, and relishing in our comfort zones to this – flight pursership.”

“They say you can’t teach old dogs new tricks but these dogs not only learned new tricks but are mighty proud of weeks spent studying, hitting the books, mastering iPad apps, passing leadership courses, and completing rigorous courses. We are now ready to take on the new challenge,” she stressed, on behalf of her batch.

The class of Alab Senior Cabin Crew Class 2 2024 (SCC2 2402) included, aside from Corpus, veterans in passenger care such as Sheila Marie C. Caramanzana, Maria Christine M. Mercado, Janice J. Yap, Francisco P. Padre, Rapunzel V. Sevilla, Gener S. Adamas, Maribel L. Roxas, Ma. Jennifer M. Angeles, Amabelle A. Roque, Jude James V. Señires, Jennifer T. Samson, Federico Severino A. Del Prado, Joeveni C. Nolido, Ma. Loupe D. Conducto, Joan L. Rivera, Maria Theresa G. Mariot, Jean Edward G. Marcos, Matthew Aldric Boncay, and Apan Gabriel España.

One of the graduates, a licensed nurse, had even assisted in the birth of a baby boy inflight.

They are also known for being the true “hearts of the Filipino” for embodying the Filipino values of warmth, care, and hospitality. This time, a notch higher.

The new graduates will begin flying as pursers next month and in January next year and will be in charge of the aircraft cabin and its entire crew, passenger concerns, and flight routine in coordination with the flight deck.

“Our passion is to serve, to be the stewards of the Filipino nation, representatives of our beloved Philippines,” Corpus said.

Alab, she added, is a promise to PAL to keep the passion burning, to serve, and to give the best passenger experience.
