Man gunned down over unpaid debt


CEBU CITY – A 46-year-old man was allegedly shot dead over an unpaid debt in Barangay Kinasang-an here on Sunday night, Nov. 17.

The suspect, 18-year-old Clint Michael Cortez Estrada, was upset that the victim Renante Alforque Paradero refused to settle his P400 debt.

Investigators of the Inayawan Police Station said the suspect learned that the victim won in an online casino game called “Scatter.”

The suspect went to the victim’s house to demand payment. However, the suspect refused to pay the victim as he needed money for his trip to his home province.

Upset that the victim refused to pay, the suspect threatened to kill the victim.

The suspect went home but several hours later, he returned to the victim’s house armed with a gun. The suspect chanced upon the victim and shot him in the forehead. The victim died on the spot.

The suspect fled after the attack and a manhunt operation was launched against him.
