President Marcos appointed Associate Justice Fernanda Lampas-Peralta as the new presiding justice of the Court of Appeals (CA), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced on Tuesday, Nov. 19.

In a Facebook post, the PCO shared Peralta’s photo as she took an oath before the President at Malacañan Palace on Monday, Nov. 18.
Peralta has been an associate justice at the CA for over 20 years. She is the wife of retired Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta.
Prior to her appointment by the President, Peralta served as acting presiding justice of the CA for two months with the mandatory retirement last September 2023 of Presiding Justice Remedios Salazar Fernando.
Previously, she also worked at the Office of the Solicitor General as associate solicitor and as trial attorney.
She was also a part-time instructor of accountancy to the undergraduate program of the University of the East from 1981 to 1983.
Peralta graduated from the University of the East with a Business Administration degree and finished law school at San Beda College and Far Eastern University.
She passed the Certified Public Accountant board exam in 1980 and the Philippine Bar Exam in 1984.
