Quad-comm witness Acierto dared to file charges vs person he tagged in illegal drugs

Rose Nono Lin challenged on Monday, Nov. 18 House quad-committee (quad-comm) witness Eduardo Acierto to file charges against her husband, businessman Lin Wei Xiong, so that they can "respond accordingly" to him.

Lin noted that the allegations against her husband were based on unverified information, which Acierto--a dismissed police colonel--included in his 2019 report to then-Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde and then Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director general Aaron Aquino.

In the report, Acierto claimed that he discovered through an informant the connection of former prresident Rodrigo Duterte's adviser Michael Yang and Allan Lim--also known, allegedly, as Lin Wei Xiong--in the illegal drug trade.

Nono Lin said Acierto should file charges in the proper court "so that we could respond accordingly to the false accusation against my husband".

"My husband is being accused of something that he is not. He is a legitimate businessman," she said in a statement.

Acierto had been allegedly marked for death during the previous Duterte administration. He remains in hiding, and has been able to attend the quad-comm hearings only via teleconference.

'My husband's name is Lin Wei Xiong. My husband also uses the name Jeffrey, but not Allan," Nono Lin added.

She bared that they have been married for 11 years and that she knew nothing about the other names being attributed to her husband.

Nono Lin also denied that her husband was hiding in Dubai. She claimed that they last met in Nov.1 in Hong Kong where he supervises some of their businesses.

Nono Lin made the same clarification when she was invited by the quad-comm in its Nov. 13 hearing where Acierto also testified via Zoom.

When shown two photos during the proceedings, Nono Lin confirmed that one of the persons in the photos was her husband, and not the other person with a moustache.

This was corroborated by former PDEA chief Wilkins Villanueva, another resource person in the hearing. He said Nono Lin's spouse and Alan Lim were different people.

"Sa image identification Mr. Chair, I confirm na hindi sila pareho (Based on image identification Mr. Chair, I confirm that they're not the same)," Villanueva said, referring to the photos.
