Farmer murdered at home in Negros Occidental


BACOLOD CITY – A 48-year-old farmer was shot dead in Sitio Tinibyangan, Barangay Minapasuk, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Friday, Nov. 15.

Police identified the victim as Florencio Alquiza III.

Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., Calatrava police chief, said the victim and a companion were having dinner at home when an unidentified person arrived and shot Alquiza in the head.

Alquiza was declared dead in a hospital.

Meanwhile, a former drug detainee was gunned down in Sitio Talave, Barangay Punao, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The victim was identified as 31-year-old Dennis Donato.

Police said that the victim was driving a motorcycle when he was shot by an unidentified person.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he as declared dead.

Donato was released from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-San Carlos a few months ago.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation on both cases.
