CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police destroyed marijuana valued at P11.3 million in eradication operations in the Cordillera region on Nov. 16.
The Police Regional Office-Cordillera said 45,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P9 million were discovered in Mount Fisak, Barangay Saclit, Sadanga, Mountain Province; 6,000 FGMJP valued at P1.2 million were found in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, and 5,430 FGMJP worth more than P1 million were found in Barangay Kayapa, Bakun, and Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet.
All discovered marijuana were documented, uprooted, and burned on-site.
Investigation is being conducted to locate other marijuana plantation sites in the area and apprehend their cultivators.
Meanwhile, police arrested two suspected drug pushers in Apayao and Baguio City.
A 41-year-old man listed as the third most wanted person on the provincial level for the fourth quarter of 2024 was arrested on a warrant of arrest for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in Barangay Capannikian, Pudtol, Apayao.
A 53-year-old man listed as a high-value individual was arrested and 11 grams of suspected shabu worth P74,800 were recovered in a buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Kayang, Baguio City.
