Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan on Saturday, November 16, personally inspected the city's rescue equipment as part of the preparations for the possible onslaught of Typhoon Pepito.

Mayor Along also directed the city's disaster response teams to be on full alert to ensure the safety and welfare of Batang Kankaloo once the typhoon hits Metro Manila.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) will lead the efforts, with support from the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD), City Social Welfare Development Department (CSWDD), City Environmental Management Department (CEMD), and City Engineering Department (CED).
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed the Caloocan City under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2.
“Mga Batang Kankaloo, para sa inyong kapanatagan, pinapangunahan ko po ang monitoring ng ating disaster response team sa posibleng epekto ng Super Typhoon Pepito sa ating lungsod (Children of Kankaloo, for your safety, I am personally overseeing the monitoring of our disaster response team regarding the possible effects of Super Typhoon Pepito on our city),” Malapitan said.
“Asahan nyo na mabilis na aaksyon ang pamahalaang lungsod sa inyong mga pangangailangan (Rest assured that the city government will promptly respond to your needs),” he added.
The mayor also urged the residents to cooperate for their safety and reminded residents to contact them at (02) 888-ALONG (25664) for any emergencies.
The local government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a swift and effective disaster response, with all necessary resources ready to support the community during the typhoon.
