The Malabon City government assured the residents’ safety amid Typhoon "Pepito”.
The Malabon Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) placed the city under a "red alert" status to enable the full activation of disaster and emergency response plans, and equipment.
"Ngayong nasa ilalim na ng Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 2 ang Metro Manila, makasisiguro ang mga Malabueño na tayo ay nakapaghanda para sa malakas na pag-uulan at sa posibleng pagbabaha na dulot ng bagyong Pepito. Sama-sama tayo at nagkakaisa para sa kaligtasan ng bawat isa. Ang mga kagamitan naman natin ay nakahanda rin para sa mga operasyon na kinakailangan gawin (Now under Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 2 Metro Manila, Malabueños can be assured that we are prepared for the heavy rains and possible flooding caused by typhoon Pepito. We are together and united for each other's safety. Our equipment is also ready for the operations that need to be done)”, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
On Friday, Mayor Sandoval met with the chairmen of the city's barangays to discuss plans for Bagyong Pepito, situational reports, pre-emptive evacuation, activate barangay disaster response teams, disaster response plans and effective communication so that no Malabueño will be harmed once the typhoon hits the city.
Around 167 LGU personnel reported on duty on Sunday for the preparations.
MDRRMO said that 13 boats and five tents were prepositioned in different barangays for immediate deployment
As of 4 a.m. on Sunday, a total of 13 evacuation sites including the Catmon Evacuation Center, C4 Isolation Facility, and schools, were opened to serve as temporary shelters for residents.
MDRRMO said that as of 9:20 a.m., a total of 84 individuals or 18 families are staying at Panghulo Elementary School after pre-emptive evacuation was implemented in Barangay Panghulo.

That's why we ask our dear Malabueños to immediately contact our local government so that help can be provided immediately when it rains. The city government is here to support you)," City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said.
