129,000 individuals flee 'Pepito' in Eastern Visayas


TACLOBAN CITY – The Office of Civil Defense-Eastern Visayas reported that a total of 41,820 families or 129,000 individuals fled super typhoon “Pepito” in  Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has prepositioned around 100,000 family food packs.

Around 11,000  have been distributed in Samar and around 5,000 in Eastern Samar. 

Relief operations continue and adequate shelter arrangements have been arranged in evacuation areas in affected local government units.

Seventeen flights and 152 sea trips have been canceled in the region, leaving 1,522 individuals stranded in airports and 1,299 passengers in seaports.
