Caraga region logs 13,319 dengue cases from January to November

BUTUAN CITY – The Caraga region has recorded 13,319 dengue cases from Jan. 1 to Nov. 9, 194 percent or 8,791 more than the 4,528 cases recorded in 2023.

One-thousand, one-hundred eight have been confirmed, 3,901 were classified as probable, and 8,310 were considered suspected cases, and 74 deaths were recorded.

Surigao del Norte has 4,135 cases, Surigao del Sur, 3,440; Agusan del Norte, 1,932; Agusan del Sur, 1,610; Butuan City, 1,653, and Dinagat Islands, 549.

The Department of Health-Caraga has intensified efforts to combat dengue all over the region.

It urged the people to help curb the spread of the disease by eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, using repellents, and seeking immediate medical attention for symptoms like fever.

“We are encouraging the whole-of-government approach in the fight against dengue in Caraga,” said DOH-13 Regional Director Dr. Cesar C. Cassion.

He asked the health sector, partner agencies, local government units, and all sectors of society to have a unified effort in combating dengue.
