Filipinos have high standards when it comes to beauty. It can be seen from the models and endorsers that represent different brands, from fashion and beauty to food. But for businessman and content creator Jayzon Luzadas, popularly known as Boss Toyo, high standard doesn’t mean perfect. After all, he recently signed as the endorser of a local dental clinic chain, Awesam Smile Dental Clinic, even though he doesn’t have the perfectly white, aligned teeth we usually see on screen. 

“Pangit ang itchura ng ngipin ko pero regular ang check up ko sa dentist (I don’t have a perfect smile and set of teeth, but I visit my dentist regularly),” he said. “I chose to partner with Awesam Smile and become their endorser because they accepted me for who I am. They didn’t force me to do dental procedures to alter the look of my natural teeth.”

In a conversation with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle, Boss Toyo revealed that he didn’t have enough money to visit a dentist regularly while growing up. But now that he already made it, he made sure that he takes good care of his teeth and oral hygiene, shares that idea, and practices with the people around him. 

In partnership with Awesam Smile Dental Clinic founder  Dr. Samantha Rose Bernardo, Boss Toyo held a dental mission service in Tondo, Manila, where hundreds of residents benefitted from free dental services. This also became the biggest dental mission service conducted by the said clinic. 

“Tumutulong ako kasi iba yung pakiramdam ng walang tumutulong sa’yo (I help people because I know the feeling of no one’s helping you). I had this experience where I badly needed help, but at the end of the day, nobody lent a helping hand. So I felt so alone,” he said. “That was so hard. So ako hanggang sa about ng makakaya ko, nagbibigay ako ng tulong (as much as I can, I help). I’m not offering too much, just give what I can to those in need.” 

Meanwhile, Dr. Sam said that the clinic offers various services, from general and cosmetic dentistry to periodontal. With a mission to spread happy smiles to more people, their clinics provide these services at a much more affordable price.
