TACLOBAN CITY – The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-8 has sent response teams to Oras in Eastern Samar and Catarman in Northern Samar on Thursday, Nov. 14, in preparation for tropical cyclone “Pepito.”
Pepito entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday night, Nov. 14.
Each team is comprised of eight members from the Office of Civil Defense, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Air Force, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Army and Philippine National Police.
They aim to have effective communication and coordination between local government units and the RDRRMC and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in disaster response.
These teams were deployed to Oras and Catarman as these two areas are frequently hit by tropical cyclones due to their proximity to the Pacific Ocean.
