The Bacolod City Maritime Police Station, along with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)-Regional Office 12, implemented a mission order against cigarette smuggling.

However, the two occupants were not present during the operation.

Confiscated in the abandoned property were 1,692 reams of assorted imported cigarettes worth P1,099,800 and four packs and 17 sticks of two other cigarette brands valued at P315.25.

According to the police, the cigarettes were being sold at P650 per ream and P65 per pack.

The recovered items were brought to BIR-Victorias City pending the filing of an appropriate complaint.

Last June, the BIR confiscated 12,000 packs of fake and smuggled cigarettes at the Escalante City public market.
