Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos, together with other city government officials and barangay heads, personally received the awards from the DILG body led by DILG-Mandaluyong City Director Mary Ann Planas.

The SGLGB utilized the “3+1 principle” where prospective passers must adhere to three core governance areas, namely financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; and safety and peace and order.

Barangays must also pass at least one of the essential governance areas such as social protection and sensitivity; business-friendliness and competitiveness; and environmental management.

According to Abalos, Barangays Addition Hills, Barangka Drive, Barangka lbaba, Namayan, New Zaniga, and Plainview, passed the three core governance areas and three essential governance areas of the body.

Meanwhile, Barangays Hagdang Bato Itaas, Hagdang Bato Libis, Daang Bakal, Wack-Wack, and Old Zaniga, passed three core governance areas and two essential governance areas.

Abalos said the recognitions attest to the strong leadership and guidance of the city and barangay heads in bringing quality public services to their constituents specifically in the creation and implementation of social welfare services, economic-centered programs, income-generating activities, and climate-change-focused programs.
