BACOLOD CITY – A 41-year-old farmer was allegedly gunned down by his younger brother during an altercation in Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on Monday, Nov. 11.
Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Binalbagan police chief, identified the victim as Elmer Estrelloso.
Batadlan said Elmer and the 28-year-old suspect were engaged in a heated altercation over a family problem.
The suspect drew a firearm and the two brothers grappled over the weapon.
The suspect wrested the gun away from his brother and shot him in the body multiple times.
Elmer was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Police recovered an empty shell and .45 caliber cartridge from the crime scene and the gun.
The suspect was released from police custody on Wednesday, Nov. 13, after his family decided not to file a case against him.
