Tondo fire victims receive P20,000 cash aid

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan addresses the fire victims from Aroma, Tondo, who received assistance not only from Manila but also from other government agencies. 

More than 2,000 fire victims of the fire that broke out in Aroma, Tondo in September, received cash aid from the local government of Manila, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).

The affected families received P10,000 from the local government and another P10,000 from the DSWD. 

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan thanked President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., DHSUD Head Sec. Jerry Acuzar and the DSWD for granting her request for assistance for the thousands of families who were displaced by a fire in Tondo.

The mayor said the DHSUD gave emergency shelter support worth of P30,000 to each of the 1,014 families following information verification.

The mayor personally met the families and enjoined them to thank the national government agencies for their constant support for the needs of Manileños.

"Ako po ay hindi mahihiyang manghingi para sa inyo.  Gagawin at gagawin natin 'yan (I will not be ashamed to ask for help. We will always do that)," she assured the families.

She also asked them to dispose of the debris when they begin rebuilding their homes and not to leave their trash in places where they should not be.
