The Department of Tourism (DOT) recorded a total of 125 cruise calls in 2023, which it described as a milestone in the country's efforts to strengthen its position in the global cruise tourism market.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco said the department is focused on initiatives such as improving port infrastructure, expanding cruise tourism policies, and launching the Cruise Visa Waiver Program to further boost the country's appeal to global cruise lines.
“Through these key developments, we are making the Philippines a top choice for cruise lines, ensuring smoother arrivals for visitors and a more vibrant tourism sector,” Frasco said.
The DOT also emphasizes sustainability and local economic growth, enhancing port facilities, and promoting environmental conservation while ensuring local communities benefit from tourism.
With a vision to establish the Philippines as a central hub for Asia's growing cruise industry, the department highlights the nation's rich cultural heritage, stunning natural attractions, and renowned hospitality.
The country's welcoming atmosphere, vibrant traditions, and pristine coastal destinations continue to attract global cruise lines, with rising demand for cruise tourism.
The DOT remains committed to expanding the nation’s cruise traffic while ensuring both the industry and local communities thrive.
Ongoing investments in tourism infrastructure and strengthened international partnerships will further enhance the Philippines' competitiveness in the global cruise market, paving the way for a more inclusive and sustainable tourism future.
