3 kidnappers slain in Zamboanga Sibugay clash

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Three notorious kidnappers were killed in an encounter in Barangay Salipyasin, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay at dawn on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

A SUSPECTED kidnapper was killed in a gunbattle in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay on Nov. 12.

One of the suspects was Murid Ahod, the eighth most wanted personality in Zamboanga Sibugay and a suspect in the 2015 and 2016 Kabasalan massacre. He was also wanted for extortion and theft.

The two other suspects were identified as Abdul Sahibad and Fahad Sahibad.

The operation was launched with the assistance of the MILF and MNLF and the cooperation of the local government units of Naga and Kabasalan.

Military sources said the law enforcement operation was the result of information obtained from tipsters.

“This success would not have been possible without the trust and cooperation of the community." said Lt. Col. Anshary Pumbaya, commanding officer of the 106th Infantry Battalion.
