Rizal PCG suspends water crafts' movement on Laguna Lake due to Typhoon Nika

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has suspended the movement of all water vessels on Laguna Lake in Rizal Province following the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 due to Typhoon Nika.

Lt JG Alvin A. Austria of the Philippine Coast Guard Station Rizal said the Sea Travel Advisory issued on November 10 calls for the temporary suspension of movement of vessel of any type or tonnage within the Area of Responsibility of Coast Guard Station Rizal effective 11 a.m., November 10, 2024.

With the issuance of a temporary suspension of travel of any type of watercraft on Laguna Lake, boats, both motorized and not, ferrying passengers or cargoes to and from Talim Island in Cardona and Binangonan are mandated to refrain from its activity until the suspension is lifted.

Rizal Province has been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 as of November 10.

Talim Island is a dagger-shaped island in Laguna Lake which is shared by Cardona and Binangonan in Rizal Province.

Hundreds of passengers to and from Talim Island travel by ferry boats daily to ports in Binangonan and Cardona.
