Impressive Didal returns from injury, reigns supreme in Argentina

The 25-year-old Didal flashed her old form and outshone other seven elite female rivals from across the globe including Olympian Dutch Roos Zwetsloot in the final to capture the crown.

The victory, however, didn’t come easy for Didal as managed a slim 3-2 decision from the five judges against Zwetsloot.

“This is amazing. Argentina didn’t disappoint, can’t wait to eat Argentina steak,” said Didal in an interview after the final. “And might stay a couple days here and skate a little more.”

Didal, an Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games multi-champion, also beat hometown bet Camila Caceres and Mexican Itzel Granados in semifinal and quarterfinal, respectively.

It also marked the first competition for the Tokyo Olympian since suffering a fractured left fibula she sustained in the Red Bull Skate in Brazil that sidelined her for almost a year and affected her qualification campaign for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Didal has been a consistent top contender in the local and international scene, winning a handful of tournaments. She was a gold medalist at the 2018 Asian Games and finished seventh in the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Games in 2021.
