The cities of Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Pasay suspended classes in all levels in public and private schools on Monday, November 11, due to Severe Tropical Storm Nika.

The suspension of classes in Las Piñas and Parañaque was made after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in Metro Manila.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar told residents to take necessary precautions due to stern rains and strong winds brought by STS Nika and keep themselves updated on the weather condition.

Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said the declaration of class suspension was made based on City Ordinance No. 2022-46.

Olivarez advised residents in need of assistance to call the local hotline at 8820-PAQUE (7783), the emergency hotline at 911, and Smart at 0961-096-6249.

He also advised offices delivering emergency services to be on alert.

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano also ordered the suspension of classes, including the Alternative Learning System (ALS) and online classes, due to expected heavy rains.
