Bonifacio Global City issues statement on woman hit by car

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig issued a statement regarding a car accident on Nov. 6 in which an SUV hit and injured a woman who was crossing a pedestrian lane.

At 6:40 a.m., Nicole Cruz (aka Nicole Mercado on Facebook), 26, a bank employee, was walking along a pedestrian lane at the intersection of 5h Avenue and Rizal Drive in BGC when a black SUV, driven by Marlon Entienza, turned left and hit her.

The accident was captured on video by JoyRide rider KupsyMoto who uploaded it on Facebook. The video has gone viral, racking up 15 million views as of Nov. 11.

Entienza, 45, a Taguig resident, works as a driver under manpower outsourcing firm A.R.M. Resources.

The vehicle, a Fortuner, is registered under KNK Machinery & Equipment Corporation, according to Senator Raffy Tulfo.

In a statement sent to Manila Bulletin, BGC stated, On 6th of November 2024, a vehicular incident occurred at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Rizal Drive. Our BGC Lifeline Ambulance promptly provided first aid on-site and transported the injured party to her chosen hospital.”

It said the BGC traffic security marshal issued a violation ticket to Entienza.

“In line with established protocol, BGC’s Traffic Security Marshal issued a violation ticket to the driver involved, and both parties were subsequently handed over to the appropriate authorities. Community safety is a top priority in BGC. We remain committed to ensuring our roads are safe for all and urge road users to practice vigilance and share the road responsibly,” BGC added.

Cruz and her father, Rorilito, appeared on the radio and YouTube show “Wanted sa Radyo” hosted by Tulfo on Nov. 8 where she narrated what happened.

Tulfo will be helping Cruz file a case against Entienza. After the show, Tulfo gave Cruz P25,000 to help in her treatment, adding that he will shoulder all other medical expenses.

The Taguig Police told the show that Entienza can be charged with “reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury.”

The case will be filed after a controversy arose when a compromise agreement between Cruz and Entienza was facilitated by an officer of the Taguig Police.

In a Facebook post, Cruz said she didn't know what she signed was a compromise agreement.

On “Wanted sa Radyo,” Tulfo castigated the police officer for facilitating the compromise agreement on the day of the accident, saying it was not the right time as Cruz was still traumatized by the accident.

The police officer told Tulfo that Cruz and Entienza already had an agreement before they went to the Taguig Police station.
