Police net P3-M shabu from former convict


ILOILO CITY – A man sentenced 10 years ago for drug pushing was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bakhaw here on Wednesday, October 9.

 The Iloilo City Police Office said the suspect, alias Onald, was apprehended by the ICPO Station-10 and yielded 450 grams of suspected shabu valued at P3 million, drug paraphernalia, and an unlicensed gun.

ICPO chief Police Col. Kim Legada lauded the ICPO Station 10 led by Police Capt. Val Campbell for their achievement.

“I commend the swift and coordinated action of the Station 10 team. This operation sends a strong message to individuals involved in illegal activities that the police force is committed to safeguarding the community,” Legada said.

“Let us maintain the intensity of our campaign and those identified as involved will be subject to law enforcement operations,” Legada added.

The 34-year-old Onald was arrested in 2014 for drug pushing and served time in jail. 

He faces charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 as well as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The illegal drug trade is known to proliferate in Barangay Bakhaw.
