Makati Police chief PCol. Joseph Talento said that after a thorough investigation, they confirmed that the reported abduction of a 67-year-old woman in Makati on September 17 did not really happen.
In an initial police report, the alleged victim identified as "Nena" reported that she was abducted by two men who suddenly approached her and covered her nose with a cloth that made her unconscious on September 17.
On September 20, she stated that the suspects placed her in a vehicle where she pretended to be dead.
They then allegedly dumped her in Barangay F. De Castro in Cavite, where a security guard found her.
Authorities said that the victim was immediately brought to the Poblacion Substation, where she filed the complaint for abduction against her husband.
However, they added that she declined to sign her complaint, saying that she would come back another time to finalize it.
On September 22, the police continued the investigation despite the complainant's absence.
On September 27, police officers visited Nena's house where security personnel confirmed that she has not returned to her home since the alleged incident.
Authorities made further inquiries and requested the viewing of the CCTV footage of the date the victim was said to be abducted.
The footage revealed that Nena willingly entered a vehicle accompanied by another woman, with no evidence of coercion.
The footage also showed that the victim alighted from the vehicle at the place she said she was dumped in Cavite. She was also seen waving to get the attention of a bystander, police said.
Nena has yet to communicate with the police to provide a full statement about the incident despite repeated attempts to contact her.
