Over 13,000 jobs to be offered to displaced POGO workers at DOLE job fair

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will provide a total of 13,279 job vacancies to displaced Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) workers on Thursday, Oct. 10, in Metro Manila.

DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Director Sarah Buena S. Mirasol said the job fair will feature 7,697 positions from 50 local employers at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque and 5,582 positions from 44 local and four overseas employers at Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati.

In partnership with the City Government of Parañaque and Makati City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the event aims to connect displaced workers with employment opportunities across various sectors.

Job seekers can explore positions in customer service, housekeeping, sales, marketing, kitchen operations, data encoding, merchandising, cashiering, and technical fields.

Participating companies will represent industries such as business process outsourcing (BPO), information technology (IT), hospitality, tourism, and general services.

To assist applicants, DOLE-NCR will offer one-stop-shop services at both locations, streamlining the process for completing pre-employment requirements.

Agencies including the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Pag-IBIG Fund, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will be on-site to provide assistance. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) will also be present at the Makati venue.

Helpdesk areas will be available to address attendees' concerns related to labor and employment, ensuring comprehensive support throughout the fair.

This initiative follows President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to ban illegal gaming licenses, which has impacted thousands of POGO workers. Since then, DOLE has been actively working to facilitate the transition of these displaced workers to new employment opportunities.

As of Sept. 27, Mirasol reported that DOLE-NCR has profiled 19,754 affected workers from 68 establishments and has invited them to participate in the upcoming jobs fair.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes and other necessary documents to facilitate their applications.
