JAC Philippines is expanding its lineup of models with the addition of its first electric vehicle, the Ytterby. First previewed at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, the all-new Ytterby is a result of JAC’s “Bubble Aesthetics Design” philosophy.

Large LED headlights with circular daytime running lights dominate the car’s sleek face. The steeply raked windshield leads to the expansive 1.45-meter skylight made using JAC’s laminated Low-E glass, which lets natural light in but reduces heat gain, glare and UV radiation.

Meanwhile, the tri-color petal wheels add flair to the clean side profile, which incorporates electrically retractable door handles. At the rear, the Ytterby includes a blacked-out D-pillar, subtle tailgate spoiler and large, square LED taillights for a distinctive appearance.

Up to 505 km of range

The Ytterby comes in two variants and incorporates premium EV features that allow owners to go farther with confidence. The Air 405 is so named because of its maximum CLTC range of 405 kilometers, courtesy of a 41-kWh battery pack and an electric motor producing 94-horsepower and 135-Newton-meters of torque. Meanwhile, the PRO 505 variant gets a 51.5-kWh battery for a 505-kilometer CLTC maximum range, with power increased to 134-horsepower and 175-Newton-meters of torque.

Using a DC fast charger, the Ytterby’s battery can be replenished from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. A full charge using the supplied 7-kWh home charger takes only 7.5 to 9 hours, depending on the model.

Easy to drive

The Ytterby is even easier to drive. Owners can simply unlock the door when near the vehicle and the motor immediately powers up. Just press the brake pedal to put it into its ready state and drive in gear.

Once the journey is done, owners can lock its door through the key, and the Ytterby will automatically power off.

The Ytterby features a 9-in-1 Electric Drive System that integrates nine system components, including the motor, reducer, drive motor controller, high-voltage power distributor and AC/DC system.

This results in a compact form to provide more interior space, passenger comfort, and greater cargo capacity. The 9-in-1 Electric Drive System also means the Ytterby is 40 percent lighter and up to 94 percent more efficient than equivalent vehicles, further reducing the electricity needed to power the EV.

With impressive energy consumption of just 10-kWh per 100 kilometers, the Ytterby helps owners save even more on electricity.

5-star safety

The Ytterby was engineered to offer the best protection for its occupants, resulting in five out of five stars in the C-NCAP’s stringent crash tests. Besides standard front, side and curtain airbags, a seatbelt-off warning and child-restraint anchors, the EV has a zero-thermal-runaway honeycomb battery that can handle major collisions without catching fire. The 3-in-1 intelligent braking system that can help prevent a road crash.

The Ytterby PRO 505 features Level 2 Assisted Driving that not only intervenes in case of an imminent collision, but also allows owners to enjoy long trips with greater comfort.

“The launch of the all-new Ytterby is timely as EVs steadily become more mainstream in the Philippines because of their ability to provide clean and cost-efficient mobility,” said JAC Philippines Brand Head Tonette Lee. “Leading edge does not have to mean out of reach, with all its technology and features, this vehicle is surprisingly accessible.”

The Ytterby is now available at all JAC Philippines dealerships and comes in five colors: Beige, Purple, Blue, White and Gray. The Air 405 is priced at P1,195,000, while the PRO 505 costs P1,320,000. Both variants also come with six-years or 150,000-km warranty (whichever comes first), eight-years or 150,000-km warranty (whichever comes first) on main power battery and integrated electric drive assembly, and a free  24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance for the first year. The units come with free portable charger, and a free home charger (installation covered by the owner).

Managed by the Autohub Group, the new dealer features a capacious 12-car display and is the first of seven JAC Philippines dealerships to be officially inaugurated this year.
