Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew, Vice Gov. Cecilia swap posts


LAOAG  CITY, Ilocos Norte – Reelectionists Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Joseph Marcos-Manotoc and Vice Gov. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos swapped posts and refiled their Certificates of Candidacy on Tuesday, October 8.

THE Marcoses, Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew and Vice Gov. Cecilia, have swapped posts for the elections next year. (FB)  

Vice Gov. Marcos is now vying for governor under the Nacionalista Party and Gov. Manotoc is now running for vice governor unopposed.

The vice governor is up against independent candidate Arlene Jocelyn Butay from San Nicolas.

Vice Gov. Marcos replaced her husband, provincial board member Mariano "Nonong" Marcos II, who was running for vice governor, after he died prior to the 2019 elections of cardiac arrest.

She won again in 2022.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s son, Ilocos Norte first district Rep. Ferdinand Sandro Marcos III of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, and the Chief Executive’s cousin, Ilocos Norte second district Rep. Angelo Marcos Barba, of the NP are running unopposed.
