CAMP MARCELO A. ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The filing of Certificates of Candidacy from October 1 to 8 for the 2025 elections next year in Region 2 or the Cagayan Valley region was peaceful, police said.

Commission on Elections-Region 2 Assistant Regional Director Jerbee Cortez said 2,291 individuals filed candidacies – 27 for congressman, 18 for governor, 12 for vice governor, 105 for provincial board member, 190 for mayor, 201 for vice mayor, and 1,738 for municipal and city councilor.
Running for governor are Ronald Aguto, Ignacio Villa, Lebardo Abad Jr., and Telesporo Castillejos in Batanes; Melvin Vargas Jr., Dr. Zarah Lara, and Edgar Aglipay in Cagayan; Lolito Bucasan, reelectionist Gov. Dakila Cua, and Reynison Santos in Quirino; Gov. Rodito Albano, Glorieta Almazan, Edgardo Edralin, Emannuel Pua, and Manuel Siquian in Isabela; and incumbent Gov. Jose Gambito, Luis Cuaresma, and Maybel Tinglao Sevillena in Nueva Vizcaya.
Police Brig. Gen. Antonio P. Marallag Jr., Police Regional Office-2 director, said cited the over 1,800 police personnel deployed in strategic areas in urban and rural areas in the region for their efforts to maintain
peace and order and secure candidates, supporters, and the public.
Marallag reminded them to remain professional and maintain neutrality.
“As public servants, we must ensure that all interactions with candidates and the public reflect respect and professionalism. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone can participate in the electoral process without fear while maintaining being apolitical,” he stated.
