ILOILO CITY – Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro and former Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy” Bacero Contreras II are again contesting the highest position in the province of Capiz.

They filed their Certificates of Candidacy before the provincial Commission on Elections in Roxas City on Tuesday, October 8.
Castro, a reelectionist, defeated Contreras, who served one term from 2019 to 2022, by almost 100,000 votes in the 2022 elections.
Castro is running under the One Capiz coalition between the Liberal Party (LP) and Lakas-CMD.
Contreras is running as an independent.
Vice Gov. James “Mitang” Magbanua is running for reelection as the running mate of Castro.
Contreras’ running mate is former Provincial Board Member Eleuper Martinez.
The governor’s wife, Capiz second district Rep. Jane Castro, is running for reelection.
The father of Contreras, former Gov. Evan, is running for mayor of Pontevedra town.
