Scattered rains to affect Bicol, Quezon; rest of the country to see partly cloudy conditions — PAGASA

The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will be the dominant weather systems in the country over the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Bicol region and Quezon province will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, known as the easterlies.

PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to occasional heavy rains.

The easterlies may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora.

Similar weather conditions may prevail over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant against the possible occurrence of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, PAGASA Weather Specialist Rhea Torres said the Low Pressure Area (LPA) located 305 kilometers west of Coron, Palawan may not have a direct effect on any part of the country and could dissipate within the day.

She added that the tropical depression located 2,650 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, continues to move away and does not pose any threat to the country.
