Ongchuans of Northern Samar swap posts


TACLOBAN CITY – Northern Samar Gov. Edwin Ongchuan is running for congressman of the province’s second district, switching places with Rep. Harris Ongchuan who filed his Certificate of Candidacy for governor on Tuesday, October 8.

Gov. Ongchuan was congressman for one term from 2016 to 2019. Rep. Ongchuan is in his first term in Congress. 

Niko Raul Daza, son of first district Rep. Paul Daza, is running in lieu of his father who has served two terms. Vice Gov. Clarence Dato is running for reelection.

In Eastern Samar, Gov. Ben Evardone withdrew his candidacy in favor of his son Board Member Ralph Vincent Evardone.

"It is a privilege and a welcome opportunity to serve the people of Eastern Samar and to build on my father's legacy. I am committed to continuing his programs, especially health care and education, and to promote my own advocacies for the youth," Ralph Vincent said.

He added that he seeks to empower the youth and equip them with the tools to help them achieve a bright future, help the elderly and needy, promote infrastructure, tourism, and the environment, and ensure a reliable and affordable supply of electricity.
