Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan supported the candidates of the local ruling party, Asenso Manileño, as they file their certificates of candidacies (COCs) on Tuesday, October 8.
"Asenso Manileño has assembled its solid and formidable slate of the most competent local public servants, young and veterans, to serve the City of Manila," she said.
“Sa mga darating na linggo, lalong mapagtatanto ng bawat botanteng Manileño na mas de-kalidad, mas may integridad, at mas maaasahan ang Asenso Manileño kumpara sa ibang hanay. Patuloy naming patutunayan na kami ang maasahang karamay ng mga Manileño sa hirap man o ginahawa (In the coming weeks, every Manileño voter will increasingly realize that Asenso Manileño is of higher quality, more integrity, and more reliable than any other parties. We will continue to prove that we are the reliable sympathizer of Manileños whether they are suffering or not),” the local chief executive said.
As the president of Asenso Manileño, she added that she is standing firm with her party mates as they filed their COCs, underscoring unity and support within the slate.
“Tunay na gawa ang alay namin sa mga Manileño at hindi lang basta laway na hindi naman naisasanla (Our service to Manileños is real work and not just saliva that is not pawned,” the local chief executive added.
Congressman Benny Abante, who chairs the House Committee on Human Rights, emphasized the slate’s credibility.
“At the top of our ticket is a compassionate and competent tandem of Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo. We have five incumbent congressmen who are chairpersons of House committees and a former lawmaker who used to chair the Committee on Metro Manila Development. Our city councilors are competent local leaders who have served the capital city well.”
Abante, as part of the congressional Quad Committee tackling issues like POGOs and extra-judicial killings, filed his reelection bid for the city's Sixth District on Tuesday.
"The entire slate is of high quality and proven track record, not mere media appeal," he stressed.
Manila Third District Congressman Joel Chua, chair of the House Committee on Good Government, probed government corruption.
“Kapag tinimbang ang aming hanay sa tiket ng iba, llamado sa husay at malasakit ang Asenso Manileño mula Punong Lungsod hanggang sa mga pambato sa Konseho (When our line-up is weighed against the others, the Asenso Manileño calls for skill and concern from the Capital City to the councilors.),” Chua remarked after filing his own COC.
“De-kalibre ng buong hanay ng Asenso Manileño at karangalan kong mapabilang dito (We have good quality of line-up in Asenso Manileño and I am honored to be included),” Chua added.
