Mandaluyong Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos files COC for mayor

Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos officially filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the 2025 mayoral race on Tuesday, October 8.

Abalos, who previously served as the city's mayor for six years before becoming vice mayor in 2022, is aiming to return to the mayor's office.

She was accompanied by her husband, Benhur Abalos, who is running for a senatorial seat in the upcoming elections, as well as her family, including current Mayor Ben Abalos.

Her running mate for vice mayor and their slate of councilors also submitted their COCs, with the support of their families.

“Pormal na po tayong naghain ng kandidatura sa muling pagkakataon upang maging alkalde at ipagpatuloy ang ating mga nasimulan para sa mas progresibong Mandaluyong (We have formally filed our candidacy once again to serve as mayor and continue what we have started for a more progressive Mandaluyong),” she said in a Facebook post.
