The Malabon City government partnered with a health insurance provider to offer benefits for its employees, aiming to support them in their ongoing service to residents, the city government announced on Tuesday, October 8. 

According to the city’s public information office, the initiative is also part of the city’s effort to enhance healthcare programs for Malabueños, ensuring that both city workers and residents benefit from improved health services.

The initiative was implemented to guarantee employees have access to healthcare services and medical treatment, to reduce absenteeism and employee turnover.

“Alam nating mahalaga na mapangalagaan natin ang ating kalusugan, lalo na ngayong pabago-bago ang panahon at patuloy ang ating pagseserbisyo para sa ating mga mahal na Malabueño. Mahalaga ang papel na ginagampanan ng ating mga kawani sa ating layuning patuloy na pag-ahon ng lungsod (We know how important it is to take care of our health, especially now with the changing weather and as we continue to serve our beloved Malabueños. Our employees play a vital role in our mission to help the city rise continuously),” City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.

“Kaya naman ating sinikap na maipatupad ang programang ito dahil prayoridad natin na masiguro ang kanilang kaligtasan at matulungan sila pagdating sa kanilang mga pangangailangang medikal (That's why we made sure to implement this program, as it is our priority to ensure their safety and assist them with their medical needs),” she added. 

The city government announced that all permanent, conterminous, temporary, and seconded city government employees will be covered by the comprehensive healthcare benefits. 

The initiative also includes in-patient, out-patient, emergency, preventive care, annual physical exams, life insurance, dental care, and other related services.

Beneficiaries will have a maximum benefit limit (MBL) of P8,000 per disability, while medical procedures for employees with pre-existing conditions will be covered up to 50 percent of the MBL. 

On the other hand, beneficiaries can receive life insurance of P20,000 for natural death and P40,000 for accidental death as part of the initiative. 

“Naniniwala tayo na mas magiging maganda ang pagbibigay ng mga serbisyo at programa kung ang ating mga kawani ay malusog, protektado, at makakasigurong makakatanggap ng tulong sa panahon na kanilakailangan nila, lalo na kung nakasalalay ang kalusugan at buhay (We believe that the delivery of services and programs will be enhanced if our employees are healthy, protected, and assured of receiving assistance when they need it, especially when health and lives are at stake),” City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said. 

“Sa ating pagpapatuloy ng mga gawain tungo sa mas magandang Malabon, makakaasa kayong hindi pababayaan ng pamahalaang lungsod ang sinuman at patuloy tayong magsasagawa ng mga programang pangkalusugan para sa lahat (As we continue our efforts towards a better Malabon, you can count on the local government to not abandon anyone and to keep implementing health programs for all),” he added. 

Moreover, the local government also collaborated with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) to offer casual and job order employees an insurance coverage for accidents, death, disablement, and dismemberment, along with burial assistance.
