Former Alaminos, Pangasinan mayor and Agrarian Reform secretary Hernani Braganza is attempting to make a political comeback as the first nominee of the Aksyon Dapat Party-list.

Braganza, who was a former peace negotiator under four different presidents, said that their initial plan was to create a peace advocacy organization, but their diverse and inclusive platform paved the way for them to run under the party-list system.

He stated that part of their advocacy was to increase the capacities of public hospitals in the country and also look into reducing the out-of-pocket expenses through the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

"We can increase the capacity of tertiary hospitals in the country as yun naman po ang covered ng national funding. We have to make sure that the money for health is not diverted somewhere else and help those who purely rely on tertiary hospitals," he said.

He said that when he served as mayor of Alaminos, people who need to be treated come to him first before going to public hospitals.

"It is also our desire to institutionalize yung tulong sa ating mga kababayan (the aid for our citizens) and as much as possible should not be dependent on our national and local political leaders," he said.

"Yun pong tiantawag na ayuda, idiretso na po natin sa mga ospital natin. Para naman wala tayong pinipili (The so-called aid should go straight to hospitals. So we don't have to choose). I have always believed that even those who did not vote for you, you have to serve them," he added.

When it comes to achieving peace, Braganza said it's not a single issue.

He said that the government must work together to root out the causes of armed conflict, and end all insurgencies in the country.

"There can no be peace without development and development without peace," he added.
